On Monday June 9, two Children’s Stage Adventure actor/educators, Hilary Kraus and Kristen Pickthall, auditioned and cast approximately 80 students, from the fourth and fifth grade for the production The Emperor’s New Clothes. The rehearsal process starts soon after the auditions are finished. In just five days all the songs, lines, dances and staging are learned. The two public performances of the final production take place on Friday, June 13, at 1:00 and 6:00. Students from kindergarten through grade three were able to attend a “Creative Dramatics” and “Puppets” workshop given during the week. Mrs. Missy Morneault, a fourth grade teacher, wrote a grant to get this group to come to Madawaska. The Perloff Foundation funded this activity. Mrs. Morneault wanted to bring Children’s Stage to Madawaska because “we live in an area far away from a performing arts center” and she thought it would be fun for the students to have a theatre experience.
